Mr. Joseph Tavana, CA, CFP - President

Joseph is the founder of Tavana & Co.

He received a Bachelor of Economics in 1967 from the University of Wales in the UK and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London, England in 1971, after which he began practicing as a professional accountant.
In 1984, Mr. Tavana qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Ontario and established his Canadian accounting practice in that same year.
In 1985, he established Datawhiz Information Systems Inc. to provide consulting on microcomputer-based accounting software since 1985.
In 1997, Mr. Tavana completed of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ in-depth tax course (parts I & II), which was designed for accountants and lawyers who specialize in tax.
In 1998, he successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course, which was designed for individuals wishing to specialize in investments. In that same year, he passed the Certified Financial Planners (CFP) examination.
In 1999, he completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ International Tax Course.
In 2002, Mr. Tavana completed Part III of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ in-depth tax course.
In 2003, he designed, developed and published a number of financial software packages under the brand Calcuware. For more information, please visit www.calcuware.com.

Barry received his Bachelor of Economics in 1965 from the University of Manchester in the UK.
He qualified as a chartered accountant in Manchester England in 1968, after which he began practicing as a professional accountant.
In 1985, Mr. Movahedi qualified as a chartered accountant in Ontario, upon which he joined the Bank of Montreal. A highlight was working with the RCMP for 3 years on loan from the Bank of Montreal as a forensic accountant until 1996.
